# How to integrate ERP with Upro for credit limits?

This article is a detailed guide on how to sync credit limit data from your ERP to Upro for B2B buyers. This works with any ERP system and once synced, the app's credit rules will trigger real-time in Shopify checkout.

### Overview
The integration uses Shopify metafields as the bridge between the ERP and Upro. **ERP > Shopify Metafields > Upro**

Here's how it works:
* Your ERP is the source of truth for all credit information
* Metafields in Shopify store the latest credit values synced from your ERP
* Upro reads those metafields and applies the logic and rules configured in its Credit Limit extension

### Step 1: Create Shopify Metafields

Create 2 metafields in Shopify (preferably of the type 'decimal') by going to your **Shopify admin > Settings > Metafields and metaobjects**
| Metafield | Purpose |
| ---- |
| `custom.total_credit_limit` | Total approved credit limit |
| `custom.remaining_balance_available_credit` | Available credit |

These metafields can be created either on:
* Company (recommended for Shopify B2B)
* Customer (if your setup requires customer-level credit management)

### Step 2: Sync Data from Your ERP

Configure your ERP integration or middleware to update these Shopify metafields whenever credit information changes.
Example:
| ERP Value | Shopify Metafield |
| ---- |
| Total Credit Limit = $50,000 | `custom.total_credit_limit` |
| Available Credit = $18,500 | `custom.remaining_balance_available_credit` |

### Step 3: Share Metafield Details with Upro

When your metafields are ready, send us the following details through live chat or at [support@uprohq.com](mailto:support@uprohq.com). We'll deploy a custom fix on our end to fetch data from these metafields for your store.
* Metafield owner type (Company or Customer)
* Namespace
* Key value pair
* Metafield type (integer/decimal/currency/money etc)

Example:
| Setting | Value |
| ---- |
| Metafield owner type | Company |
| Namespace | custom |
| Key value pair | total\_credit\_limit |
| Metafield type | Number |

### Step 4: Upro Configuration

The Upro team will configure the app to read the metafields and apply credit limit logic during checkout and order placement.

Upro can then:
* Validate available credit before an order is submitted
* Configure how orders exceeding the available credit are handled, including displaying warning messages, requiring full payment at checkout, or blocking order submission altogether.
* Display credit information to approved B2B customers

**Important: Please note that with this integration, the app will rely on the ERP-linked metafields for all of its processing. Any settings under the in-app 'Manage Credit' section will be overridden.**
